Looking Back on My First Year of Blogging

December31

Finally, I’ve reached a year in blogging. I remember starting a blog quietly in Wordpress.com after writing a series of articles for someone. Like most bloggers, that blog began as a personal blog, then this a crazy woman came along.

Now I’m going fast forward to the present. I did not think that I’ll be continue to take blogging seriously. These are the changes that I’ve taken note of:

  • wrote paid reviews and made good money while my blog PR was high (you always lose PR doing this way, if you ask)
  • gained a lot of loyal readers through Entrecard and at one point the blog associated with my pretty face made it in the career category
  • and that actively dropping cards is an easy way to increase Alexa rank and gain more loyal readers
  • got guest blogging opportunities in oDesk and TechBlog.ph
  • just recently moved to self-hosted Wordpress which is way too better than Blogger
  • after doing my own blog, I landed on a freelance opportunity where I get to customize someone’s Wordpress blog. I had it done just before the New Year celebration.
  • UPDATED: I just learned today that I got PR in all of my blogs – The Lady Programmer back at PR3 (from PR0 penalty), The Single Parent Talks (this blog) up one step from PR1 to PR2 and The PTC Investor up from PR0 to PR2.

I hope these blogging blessings continue – I have just counted mine.

I don’t know the exact date when I started, and the internet wayback machine (a site that keeps records of old websites) turned out nothing. I distinctly remembered that I wrote my personal thoughts on the web anytime around the Christmas holidays. [...]
