Holy Week Road Trip: A Long Trip at Ilocandia

April7

Our family usually have these road trips during the holy week. We travel here from Baguio to destinations that we like to go. My father and I take turns at the wheel in driving along the highway. I hope that we can be able to be on the road again this coming holy week.

This one was taken two years ago. The route we had followed was from Baguio, La Union, Vigan, Laoag, Pagudpud, Tuguegarao, Ilagan, Nueva Viscaya, Pangasinan and back to Baguio. I got lots of shots taken, all of these with my handy cellphone, which was the only thing I had that time, so these shots are not clear.

Narvacan

One of our interesting first stopover is at Narvacan. We spent a lunch time at that sea, and we took some pictures of that place. One of the taller rocks on this shore actually cradles a statue of the Virgin Mary.
Abra
Abra bridge
This bridge is not really a tourist’s stop, but I was really awed at the expanse of this river. We stop at this place so that we could stretch our legs.

Pagudpud is a famous white beach destination for tourists. There are some developed resorts that are catered to those visitors who want to be pampered, but there’s also a smaller place for those who want to experience the white sand beaches without spending lots of money. We were able to enjoy a few hours at the beach before we got on the road again.

This is one of my best shots during the trip. This was taken at one of the fastfood chains in Vigan.

Finally, I was able to see these famous Spanish houses. We all enjoyed the calesa ride. This is the best picture I had taken of this area of Vigan without showing signs of modernization.

Claveria
Claveria
This is what I think a hidden beauty of Cagayan. This lagoon has the potential of being a good tourist destination near to Pagudpud. The lagoon is awesome and peaceful and the waters are calm – except for the fishermen on the shores.
Nueva Vizcaya
Nueva Vizcaya road
After Claveria, there isn’t much to see at Tuguegarao, Nueva Vizcaya, Pangasinan and back to Baguio route. My dad and I just continued taking turns driving at the wheel. On one occasion we stopped in the middle of the highway and decided to take this photo. I suddenly missed those long travels by car or bus.
