Tomorrow, my kid will be off to school to enjoy the first day of classes. She’s supposed to be attending classes a week earlier, but at that time swine flu has already begun to creep into the Philippine shores which made some people sick already with the flu.
Probably like every kid out there, she’s excited on her first day of classes. Her things are mostly new – only the scissors and her plastic card covers are not, but these are still in very good condition. Her school uniforms are ready and her outfit is complete with a new pair of leather shoes. I did not waste money though, on more expensive school supplies. I want her to learn the value of being thrifty.
Although public school education is free in our country, not all kids are able to go to school. Some kids don’t go to school because they had to work for their ailing parents. There are those problem kids too.
I have yet to see our country solve this problem. It seemed that our country isn’t progressing at all.
