Show Me Some Love

Bloggers usually do it in link-loving exchanges. I find link exchanges a good way of promoting one’s blog on another blog for free.

I have decided to cut the Blogroll list into two. One blogroll list is named “Friends List” which contains, of course, my friends. The other one is “New Connections” where I’ll be putting new blogs from bloggers that I had to know yet. Since I am using Blogger in Draft, I decided to use the New Blog List Widget, which works to show the most recently updated blog (with a new blog post) on top of the list. The widget works best for Blogger and WordPress blogs.

I had decided to cut each Blogroll into the top 5 recently updated blogs, to make it easier for any visitor to navigate. If you don’t see your blog’s name after sometime, then it means that you have not updated your post for a long time. I think this makes it fair enough to everyone who is not listed.

Wait! Before you go, I’m interested to know how you keep up with latest news about your blogger friends. Don’t miss the ongoing polls!

Poll: What’s your main means of catching up news with your blogger friends?

UPDATE: Poll is already retired. Thanks to those who participated.

I’m running a poll starting today. I’m really curious about how bloggers catch up on each other. I also wanted to know more what appeals more to personal blogs.

I know of only five choices where one can get to catch up on other bloggers whose interest is to share their personal lives.

What’s your main means of catching up news with your blogger friends? I just need a single response, just the main thing that you use to see these updates from other bloggers.

  • Bookmarks/Favorites – Yep, the one that comes in Firefox or IE.
  • Feed Reader/Email – The one with the big RSS icon, or the fill-in-the-blank space below the RSS.
  • Entrecard Favorites – The one with “add to favorites” sort of thing in Entrecard.
  • BlogCatalog/MyBloglog - Are you interested in joining social communities?
  • Digg, SU, Technorati Faves, Facebook, etc – Another batch of social community.
  • Others - Feel free to elaborate what you do to catch up to another blogger’s news. I want to know more.

Thanks a lot!

A Little of My Personal Side and a Million-Dollar Idea

A lot of new friends that I’ve met around the blogosphere had been looking for some kind of personal blog from me. It is the one that most people can connect to, and share life’s experiences. I lost my previous blog, but now I got it up again ahead of schedule – due to popular public demand!

Now we could REALLY talk!

Just like everyone I’d like to share a lot of mixed bag thoughts and experiences, rants and whatever that comes to my mind. I’d like to my other blog would remain to be a more formal niche blog that exposes my professional side. This particular is just more like the casual dress down type where anyone can play.

Now, I don’t need to worry about getting search engines in this blog. Or do a lot of research about the next blog topic that I need to write. Or worry about how I’ll be able to increase traffic. And grammar. This will all just simply be me, my kid, my blog, my friends or perhaps a new love.

Hopefully I would be able to get new ideas pouring in. Perhaps this might lead me to a million-dollar idea that no one had ever discovered.

Blogging is Really a Waste of Time

A blog? IT IS a waste of time.

That was my first real impression about blogging. I thought blogging was something for the introspective soul: people who like to write poems, life musings, rants and other personal stuff about their family and their dogs and cats.

I started blogging less than a year ago. Before that I met someone and agreed to write a lot of articles – a few of these required research while most articles follow the review type format: the one that uses URL and keywords or anchor text stuff. It was a lot of work and I was pressured to submit these for a very short time.

A lot shorter than the 6 hour PPP deadline had been giving to its members!

Then during one of my free times, I tried to figure out where my articles and reviews went. Google was my close friend of mine whom I pay to visit everyday: I typed in “paid reviews” and PayPerPost came up like magic!

That was when I learned more about blogging. I browsed through some members and viewed their blogs. Most blogs that I’ve seen were that from the ladies – the one with a lot of widgets, flowery stuff and kids. There were some blogs from the men too – the fast loading simple ones with clean masculine designs which I personally prefer.

Most blogs that I’ve discovered have been writing stuff that have been assigned to me. It occurred to me that I can do that kind of writing.

I set out with Mr. Google as my guide. He answered some of my questions: What is blogging? How can I blog? What do I need to start blogging? How do I earn through blogging?

I decided to make two blogs, one at Blogger and one at WordPress. I wanted to try out each one and decide later which one is better.

I did not give up writing for somebody, but I slowly built my blog. Then I started to earn real cash after a few months.

I still write for somebody, but not the same person that I have dealt with the first time. This client pays higher but not as high as what I received directly at PayPerPost and Sponsored Reviews.

He just bumped into my main blog just the other week. He was impressed!

I don’t know if I would still continue to write more bulk articles for someone or probably continue with his offer of doing social bookmarking services, but I think it is time for me to move on and work for myself – and receive a better pay.

I have already grown a tree, and now I am adding some seedlings to add to that bigger tree.
